Linear stability of a ferrofluid centred around a current-carrying wire

چکیده
Investigated first is the linear stability of a Newtonian ferrofluid centred on rigid wire, surrounded by another with different magnetic susceptibility. An electric current runs through generating an azimuthal field that produces stress at interface fluids. Three-dimensional disturbances to system are considered, and linearised Navier–Stokes equations solved analytically in terms implicit expression for growth rate disturbance. The found numerically arbitrary Reynolds number, given explicitly inviscid Stokes regimes. next whose susceptibility varies radially, subject non-uniform field. It proven if gradient positive anywhere fluid, then linearly unstable. Moreover, it applying axial can stabilise both continuous discontinuous susceptibilities.

Charge Density in a Current-Carrying Wire
Discussions of the force on a charged particle outside a current-carrying wire often assume that the wire is electrically neutral. This problem explores how this assumption is not quite correct. We give solutions both in the lab frame and in the rest frame of the conduction electrons, using both Maxwell’s equations and special relativity. We note that for current to flow in a resistive wire, th...
متن کاملOn the possibility of a relativistic correction to the E and B fields around a current-carrying wire
It is well known that electric and magnetic fields may change when they are observed from different frames of reference. For example, the motion of a charged probe particle moving parallel to a current-carrying wire would be described by utilizing different electric or magnetic fields, depending on from which frame of reference the system is observed and described. To describe the situation in ...

متن کاملThe Electric Field Outside a Stationary Resistive Wire Carrying a Constant Current
We present the opinion of some authors who believe there is no force between a stationary charge and a stationary resistive wire carrying a constant current. We show that this force is different from zero and present its main components: the force due to the charges induced in the wire by the test charge and a force proportional to the current in the resistive wire. We also discuss briefly a co...
متن کاملElectron Holography of the Magnetic Phase Shift of a Current-Carrying Wire
The controlled generation of magnetic fields to study switching processes in magnetic materials in the transmission electron microscope (TEM) is highly challenging [1-3]. Here, we use electron holography to study the magnetic field around a carefully fabricated current-carrying wire. As a result of the fact that a current flowing parallel to the plane of an untilted TEM specimen produces no net...
